Stories About Other People

The stories we tell ourselves about what people do or don’t do or why they do what they do or don’t do are just stories. Guessing, really. Chances are oh-so-very high that we think we understand them and that we really have it wrong.

Any actions we take (or reactions that,  shall we say,  take us) based on these assessments are likely to be inefficient, ineffective, and/or damaging.

If we really want to influence another person’s behavior, we are far better served by setting aside those stories. We are free now to agree on a win-win result. Then we can land together on the how, when, and who details.

No stories. No guesswork.

In your corner,

Mike
