Management is what we do to get people to act as we want them to in an organization. It includes the title, the position, and the techniques.
Leadership is different. It is something we earn. If they think we are capable and caring, the people may bestow leadership upon us. And they can just as easily revoke it.
We absolutely get to put up our hands to say we want to be a leader (with or without title). But the people get to follow us or not.
