Simply Thank Them

There are people who will say, “You can’t.” Some may say, “You shouldn’t.”

If what you do affects them directly (perhaps you are, for instance, their employee, business partner, or spouse), then negotiate with them.

If what you do has no real effect on them, then simply thank them. Chances are good that they made these comments because they had frightened themselves. They were imagining being in your situation without your insight, passion, or talents.
