Enough Quality

How much quality is enough?

People who cut corners to save time and money end up losing both. It simply takes more effort to fix something that’s been created poorly than to create it well to start.

People who delay delivery in order to make things perfect often do so out of fear of criticism. This is unfortunate since delay usually opens them to criticism.

Here’s a formula for a better way:

  1. For each chunk of work, set (and if working with others, agree upon) a reasonable “done by when” date.
  2. Go for as much quality as you can within the given time for each chunk.
  3. Regularly make improvements in the way you work so you can have more quality in the same or less time.

In your corner,

Mike
