Let’s say that X is something that we want. Most of the time, we say, “When X happens, then I will be happy.”

We all know, unfortunately, that this doesn’t work. When you pin happiness, satisfaction, or joy on achieving something, that something either becomes a struggle or generates only fleeting glimpses of happiness.

What works is to say and feel, “I am happy and I look forward to enjoying X, too.”

In your corner,

Mike
