“Man will be better when you show him what he is like.”
Chekhov
Want to build a great company? Start, good leader, by understanding yourself.
Whether you judge any aspect good or bad, be willing to see it all. Then, instead of reacting or explaining, be curious. How does this serve me, my team, my organization, my clients, my world? How does it get in the way?
Next, good leader, show others who they are. Start by listening–even for the first time–to their dreams, concerns, and values. Then ask for permission to, with love, show them what is helping and what is not helping them.
Yes, this month’s sales number and next quarter’s objectives are important. But the time you spend making yourselves better will pay off far more than diving into the tasks without making yourselves better.
In your corner,
Michael
